PurposeThe Account Manager is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key customer accounts and selling new and used equipment and other services.
Responsibilities- Manage key customer account relationships to provide a differentiated customer experience.
- Proactively assess, clarify, validate, and communicate key customer account needs.
- Provide value by developing solutions that save time, reduce risk, and increase profits.
- Develop a contact plan that meets individual needs of key customer accounts.
- Meet or exceed sales volume goals and objectives on assigned key accounts.
- Influence customer trade cycles and appraise current and future needs.
- Update and retain relevant customer account information in CRM.
- Engage with dealership personnel to promote resources such as JD Operations Center and TRUConnect.
- Represent the dealership for the sale of all equipment, aftermarket, and technology products and services.
- Use trade‑in process to evaluate used equipment.
- Maintain product knowledge of all available equipment and services.
- Maintain knowledge of financing and risk‑management options.
- Communicate customer operational requirements and agronomic goals.
- Monitor competitive activity and communicate to management.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute equipment field demonstrations.
- Coordinate dealership team to deliver highest value to key accounts.
- Attend sales and operational training events and seminars.
- Maintain assigned company vehicles and equipment when applicable.
- Assist in product support functions during peak seasons.
- Track customer interaction on CRM or spreadsheet.
- Assist with inter‑store transfers and requests.
- 5+ years of equipment sales experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Ag Business preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of John Deere and competitive equipment and technology trends.
- In‑depth knowledge of farming and agronomic practices and key account operations.
- Business, financial, and logistical management knowledge.
- Ability to work flexible, extended hours, weekends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and dealer business systems.
- Self‑starter with high attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to articulate via phone or email.
- Strong listening and interpersonal skills.
- Proven sales skills with ability to read customers and close the sale quickly.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
