Project Overview

Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel’s scope in Sentinel’s Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.

Workface planning (WFP) is an essential resource within the Advance Work Packaging (AWP) construction organization. The Workface Planner will convert Construction Work Packages (CWPs) into Installation Work Packages (IWPs) for all project commodities, ensuring all necessary drawings, deliverables, engineered data, and resources are available and constraints removed before releasing digital IWPs to the field construction team. The role interfaces with field engineering, planners, and supervision to facilitate IWP scoping in Teamworks and P6 L4 schedule development, providing timely updates to Area Field Engineers and Supervision on IWP scope, status, and schedule.

• Supports preparation and development of IWPs in close coordination with Field Engineers, Superintendents, and other project personnel.
• Reviews work scope, checking sequencing, access, resources, equipment needs, pre-work, materials and support services.
• Develops and assembles detailed IWPs as per the project and procedures, compiling installation drawings, installation details, model snapshots, vendor drawings, inspection test records, and other engineering deliverables.
• Prepares scoping sketches, material takeoffs, and required construction engineering deliverables and verifies completeness of engineering drawings and vendor information.
• Monitors quality of IWPs ensuring accurate scoping and preparation.
• Monitors project schedule and ensures timely delivery of IWPs; coordinates with Project Controls, planners, and stakeholders to meet priorities.
• Facilitates identification and removal of constraints.
• Participates in 3D model reviews to preserve construction installation requirements during design development.
• Coordinates with procurement to identify IWP material delivery status in the Bechtel Procurement System.
• Coordinates with design engineering for design completion relative to construction schedule; maintains IWP input in Teamworks and updates as design is revised.
• Works with the Turnover Coordinator to track IWP’s and inspection records to completion.
• Develops status reports using project databases spanning multiple Bechtel Standard Applications.

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.

• Jobsite experience as a Field Engineer, Construction Engineer on large industrial projects is essential.
• Knowledge of assembling drawings and deliverables for smaller scope of work or preparation of installation work packages.
• Proficient in reading drawings, interpreting design, specifications, and industry standards and codes.
• Prior experience in work scope packaging, material take-offs, and quantity reporting.
• Ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
• Ability to use standard PPE (harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.) required for each assigned task.

• Knowledge of using a 3D Model, Teamworks/Setroute database, Primavera P6, DSCS, and Bechtel construction procedures.
• Knowledge of using Navisworks, Bookbuilder, Synchro, xFighters, Unifier, Smart Completions, Model Builder, and Scope Builder.
