Act as Mission Integrator for satellite programs providing a support role to ASO Mission Managers and a secondary interface with ASO customers. Learn Mission Management function through meeting attendance, support of Mission Managers, and performance of discreet tasks. Perform system level operations in support of mission (COFR package preparation, spacecraft airfield off-load/upload, prop load preparations, PMS system support, post launch pack-and-ship, etc.).
Perform basic special projects. Provide ASO Site Safety Supervision with emphasis on fueling, lifting, and other hazardous operations. Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local authorities.
- Provide a point of contact for satellite customers and the respective launch vehicle teams for pre-mission planning and launch campaign support.
- Arrange and support the shipping of satellite equipment including interfacing with customer, shipping agents, and customs.
- Act as a liaison to outside support agencies including VSFB Range Safety, Security, etc.
- Review customer procedures and operating plans. Ensure that hazardous procedures are safe for use and comply with ASO safety requirements and facility capabilities.
- Provide site planning assistance.
- Provide support as needed to process and operate propellant loading hardware, including hazardous operations support.
- Undertake and maintain SCAPE training.
- Background in hazardous chemical/material handling
- Knowledge of engineering standards and best practices
- Must be able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, fast paced environment
- Must be able to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, managers, and customers
- Must have effective communication (oral and written, across all levels of the organization) and documentation skills
- Must be self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
- Must have strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Skills and training regarding Hazardous Materials and Dangerous Grounds Transportations, RCRA, Import/Export Scheduling
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or related discipline) or equivalent experience, with six (6) months experience in aerospace and launch operations / hardware processing preferred. Previous hands‑on experience working in a potentially hazardous environment desired. Experience with SCAPE, calibrations, operating pressure panels, and forklift operations preferred, but not required.
Must be a United States citizen and willing and able to successfully obtain a security clearance, up to Top Secret level, to retain employment. Current active TS highly desired.
