Job Summary

As the Assistant Controller, you will support the Controller and Director of Finance in managing the financial operations of the company. This role will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial standards. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, collaborative, and thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in overseeing financial accounting, costing accounting functions, KPI reporting, internal controls and process, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related reporting.
  • Help coordinate and consolidate the annual budget and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Assist with analyzing cost structures and identifying areas to improve operational and financial efficiency.
  • Prepare supporting schedules, reconciliations, and cost‑benefit analyses.
  • Contribute to internal control reviews and compliance monitoring.
  • Support cash flow tracking, bank reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and accounting standards (Canadian GAAP and IFRS).
  • Participate in the development and documentation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide backup and support to the Controller and finance leadership as required.
  • Ensure all responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or public accounting.
  • Familiarity with cost accounting and financial reporting in a production environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (Proficiency in Business Central is a preferred skill); ERP experience is an asset.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to a fast‑paced environment.
