The base salary will be $70,560 - $83,000 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

The Office of the Vice‑Provost (Academic Programs) provides academic leadership across campus, creating new and ongoing opportunities for learners, and facilitating curricular and academic policy development for undergraduate programs. The portfolio includes Western Continuing Studies and the Centre for Teaching and Learning, the Office of Academic Quality and Enhancement and services within the portfolio that focus on students and help to fulfill Western’s commitment to the best student experience.

The portfolio advances and engages faculty, industry, and partners in the University’s mission, fosters innovation in teaching and programming, and develops institution‑wide learning outcomes. The portfolio engages across and beyond the University, in close collaboration with student leaders, students at large, deans, associate deans, and department chairs to further the University’s academic mission.

Responsibilities
Curriculum Review and Renewal

The Educational Developer, Curriculum is critical to the Centre for Teaching and Learning’s mandate of supporting departments and faculties in curriculum design and renewal as part of Western’s Institutional Quality Assurance (IQAP) process. The Developer advises on course and academic program development in consultation with academic units. The Developer also designs programs and services to support continuous curricular improvement and teaching excellence among faculty members and departments across the university.

The Developer supports departments in curriculum review and renewal, including providing consultation during the design of course and program learning outcomes for new degree programs, and assisting departments with designing outcomes assessment. The Developer also provides leadership, training and one‑on‑one design support for departments and faculty in their efforts to enhance teaching and learning.

Faculty Development

In addition, the Educational Developer, Curriculum provides expertise to instructors on creating engaging and inclusive learning environments for students. This may include consultations on pedagogical and strategic areas of importance, including assessment design, active learning, generative AI, and equity, diversity, inclusion, decolonization, and assessment (EDIDA). The role designs and facilitates workshops in multiple modalities (including face‑to‑face, online, and blended), develops asynchronous resources, and offers one‑on‑one consultations to instructors.

The Developer also contributes to regular CTL programming such as annual conferences and orientation events.

Qualifications
Education
  • Master’s degree in curriculum, education, or a related field
  • PhD degree in curriculum, education or a related field is preferred
Experience
  • 2 years of progressive experience developing resources as well as designing and facilitating workshops/programs for instructors across a range of teaching modalities
  • 2 years of experience teaching at the college or university level
  • Previous experience in course design and continuous curricular improvement
  • Previous experience facilitating educational development opportunities
  • Experience coordinating events and managing projects
Preferred
  • Experience facilitating online or blended workshops for instructors in a post‑secondary setting
  • Experience conducting program evaluation and project management
