The Superintendent of Student Achievement leads and supports schools in achieving our Mission: “Across the TVDSB, we collaborate and innovate to promote student achievement and well-being for students in a changing world.” Specifically, the Superintendent of Student Achievement provides support in the area of student achievement, communications with members of the school community, direction setting and professional learning.
About the Role
This posting is for a permanent existing vacancy.
Reporting to a Senior Superintendent, this position requires an individual with demonstrated leadership skills who can work effectively in a collaborative decision-making environment. Superior interpersonal and communication skills, team building and management skills, innovative thinking, proven ability to engage community members and the ability to affect change are essential skills required of the candidates. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading a designated community of schools and be accountable for system responsibilities.
Candidate Overview
We seek a visionary leader with a passion for educational excellence, a commitment to equity and diversity, and a proven ability to inspire and lead school communities. The ideal candidate will have:
• A proven track record of improving student achievement in diverse educational settings.
• Strong leadership and management skills to effectively oversee and guide schools and educational programs.
• In-depth knowledge of curriculum implementation, data informed instructional strategies, responsive assessment and evaluation practices, and provincial and board education initiatives, policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with students, staff, and the community, articulating a clear vision for student achievement, and inspiring others.
• A commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in education, with experience developing and implementing programs for underserved and diverse student populations.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges and develop innovative solutions.
• Effective organizational skills to manage multiple projects and ensure efficient operation of the educational system.
• A commitment to continuous learning and professional development for self and staff, with experience in designing and implementing professional development programs.
Qualifications
• Hold a recognized Supervisory Officer's Certificate or have qualifications completed by 2028 August 31.
• A proven track record in education administration, including roles such as principal, assistant superintendent, or similar.
• A combination of elementary and secondary experience is an asset.
• Skilled in partnering with schools in diverse communities.
• Experience and skills in the area of Special Education and/or Human Resources
is an asset.
Salary: $199,000
