About Alpha Logic Career College

Alpha Logic Career College is a growing educational organization dedicated to helping adult learners develop practical language, workplace, digital literacy, and academic skills. We are currently expanding our ESL programming and are seeking a qualified and motivated ESL Instructor to join our team.

This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about helping adult learners achieve their goals through ESL instruction, conversation circles, workplace communication training, and digital literacy development in a supportive, engaging, and professional learning environment.

The role begins at approximately 10 hours per week with significant potential for additional hours and future full-time employment as enrolment grows.

Qualifications
  • TESL Canada certification, TESOL certification, or an equivalent TESL Ontario‑recognized ESL teaching credential.
  • University degree from a recognized institution.
  • Previous teaching experience in an educational setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a professional educational team.
Strong Assets
  • TESL Ontario certification.
  • Experience teaching adult ESL learners.
  • Experience with CLB‑based (Canadian Language Benchmarks) programming.
  • Experience conducting learner assessments and writing progress reports.
  • Experience teaching workplace communication and digital literacy skills.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms and educational technology.
Key Responsibilities

Student Assessment & Placement

  • Conduct initial learner assessments and interviews.
  • Determine appropriate placement levels for incoming students.
  • Assist in developing individualized learning plans where appropriate.

Instruction & Classroom Delivery

  • Prepare engaging lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Deliver ESL instruction using the ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) methodology.
  • Facilitate communicative, learner‑centred classroom activities.
  • Adapt instruction to meet diverse learner needs and language levels.
  • Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.

Conversation Circles & Language Practice

  • Facilitate weekly English Conversation Circle sessions for adult learners.
  • Encourage learner participation through guided discussions, role‑playing activities, and real‑world communication exercises.
  • Create a welcoming and supportive environment that builds learner confidence in speaking and listening.
  • Support learners in developing practical English skills for workplace, educational, and community settings.
  • Adapt conversation topics and activities to accommodate varying language proficiency levels.
  • Monitor learner engagement and provide constructive feedback to support language development.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track learner attendance and progress.
  • Complete monthly learner assessments using established rubrics.
  • Generate monthly progress reports and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and documentation.

Workplace & Digital Literacy Skills

  • Support learners in developing workplace communication skills.
  • Assist students in improving computer literacy and digital skills.
  • Provide instruction in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook.
  • Guide proficiency in email communication, internet research, file management, and general computer usage.

Program Development

  • Participate in curriculum development initiatives.
  • Assist in creating and refining assessment tools and learner resources.
  • Contribute ideas to strengthen and expand Alpha Logic’s educational programming.
  • Support special projects and educational initiatives as required.
  • Perform additional instructional and administrative duties that support the growth and success of Alpha Logic’s educational programs.
