Location: Southwestern Ontario
The University of Waterloo seeks a motivated Lab Instructor specializing in Astronomy to enhance laboratory education. This full-time position involves direct teaching and administrative responsibilities in the Physics department.
As part of the Faculty of Science's commitment to excellence, you will facilitate hands-on learning across various undergraduate lab courses. Your main duties will include coordinating with faculty, evaluating student lab performance, and ensuring effective utilization of lab equipment. Your support to graduate Teaching Assistants will be essential in fostering a collaborative educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare, setup, and instruct laboratory courses
• Create and manage evaluation strategies for student assessments
• Supervise graduate TAs and review their lab outcomes
• Develop online resources for student learning
• Maintain equipment and facilities for laboratory use
Requirements:
• BSc in Physics, Astronomy, or similar
• 3-5 years relevant laboratory experience
• Strong problem-solving and analytic skills
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Experience with Lab View or similar software is a plus
