The base salary will be $67,680 - $96,590 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

Us

The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centres. The faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 PhD students).

Responsibilities

The International Recruitment Officer serves as the primary administrative lead supporting the Faculty’s plan for internationalization, which includes the recruitment of international students in the professional and research-based graduate and undergraduate programs ensuring that highly qualified international students are recruited to our programs. For international student recruitment, this role serves as a key liaison between the Faculty, FHS Schools and Programs, the Registrar’s Office, the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, Western International and other campus partners.

The Recruitment Officer understands the Faculty’s programmatic offerings and works closely with the FHS Marketing and Communications Team and the Graduate Affairs Team to support student recruitment, transitions and success. This role will foster ongoing international and domestic relationships with targeted schools, universities, agencies and other relevant constituencies and will participate in the development and implementation of strategies for the recruitment of international students (including marketing of the Faculty’s programs) with a focus on increasing the diversity of international applicants and students  role will respond to inquiries from students and other stakeholders regarding the Faculty’s programs and service offerings, the application process, and other related matters.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Undergraduate University Degree from an accredited, recognized university

Experience:

  • 4 years’ experience in an international recruitment, marketing, or communications role, in an academic institution
  • Experience working with a culturally diverse client base preferred
  • Experience providing support for international students preferred
  • Experience in a post-secondary environment would be an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with students, internal and external clients
  • Strong interpersonal skills that build positive relationships with students, staff, faculty, and external contacts
  • Compelling and persuasive communication skills to engage individuals and teams inside and outside the University

  • Cross-cultural competency with an ability to interact and work effectively with people from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Customer service skills to understand student needs and expectations, with a desire to deliver helpful and reliable service to the University community
