Environmental Project Coordinator
Job Description
WSP’s RPM team is one of the most established and exciting teams in Canada, specialising in health and safety, Phase I/II ESAs, risk assessment and remediation. The Environmental Project Co‑ordinator will support project managers and key clients in the design and oversight of field work related to monitoring, investigating, and remediating contaminated sites impacted by hydrocarbons and the preparation of technical reports.
Responsibilities- Model and reinforce safe work practices on every project, creating a positive and accountable field environment.
- Draft and maintain health and safety plans and emergency response plans for field programs.
- Build and manage schedules for field staff and subcontractors, tracking constraints, access, and daily changes.
- Coordinate with municipalities, regulators, and site stakeholders to support permits, access, and reporting needs.
- Conduct occasional field work (soil, groundwater, surface water, and vapour programs) and support remediation oversight.
- Coach and train junior staff on core field and investigation practices such as Phase I/II ESA support, drilling oversight, surveying, and groundwater sampling.
- Collaborate across the national RPM team and local offices to share resources, lessons learned, and consistent delivery practices.
- Promote WSP’s guiding principles through reliable follow‑through, clear communication, and respectful site/stakeholder interactions.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance to technicians to keep field programs on scope, on schedule, and documented properly.
- A university degree or above in environmental science, engineering, or related field.
- Proven field experience in contaminated site assessment, including soil, groundwater, surface water, and vapour sampling/monitoring.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in an engineering consulting environment.
- Ability to interpret site data and recommend next steps, supporting technical memos/reports and coordination with regulators/municipalities as needed.
- Willingness to grow your career within the RPM team.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation (or eligibility to obtain) is preferred.
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $69,700 – $92,300
MB & ON: $63,600 – $87,500
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $62,900 – $83,600
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
