Student Plans Examiner Internship Position

Gain valuable experience with the Plans Examination team in the Housing and Community Growth Division. This in-person, full-time position supports building permit reviews and construction oversight.

The Student Plans Examiner will work closely with the Manager of Plans Examination, assisting in maintaining permit statistics and reviewing plans with experienced examiners. You will shadow building inspectors and may assist in preparing Auto Cad details, while managing technical documentation. This role requires a commitment to the position from September to December 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in maintaining up-to-date permit statistics

• Review building permit plans alongside Plans Examiners

• Shadow inspectors during on-site construction visits

• Prepare Auto Cad details as needed

• Respond to customer inquiries and maintain documentation

Requirements:

• Experience in residential construction preferred

• Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code is a plus

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Auto Cad

• Enrolled in Architectural Technology Program

• Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check
