Job ResponsibilitiesKey duties include managing and leading projects from inception to completion, preparing engineering reports, collaborating with cross‑departmental teams to improve production processes, and participating in TS16949 activities, among other responsibilities.
- Manage and lead projects from inception to completion—timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try‑out, launch, buy‑off, budget, prototype programs and engineering changes.
- Prepare reports, charts and documentation required for engineering records and projects focusing on plant Key Performance Indicators.
- Work closely with other departments and customers to design solutions to improve production processes, reduce downtime, increase O.A., ergonomic design, and economic viability of our operation.
- Participate in design reviews, equipment buy‑offs, process reviews.
- Coordinate with contracted engineers to ensure that stamping equipment meets all Pre‑Start Health and Safety Review (PSHSR) requirements.
- Assist in training plant personnel when requested.
- Lead Continuous Improvement Program initiatives, including managing layout changes, developing infrastructure, and fulfilling improvement requests.
- Develop and maintain plant equipment standards.
- Prepare capital quotation packages for approval as required.
- Participate in TS16949 activities such as PFMEA, APQP, and CPM.
- Follow and adhere to current customer quality and environmental management system standards.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Act as a liaison between Presstran and relevant suppliers, troubleshooting process/equipment‑related issues to eliminate defects.
- Responsible for implementing TWI on mechanical reworks and training operators as needed, identifying manufacturing methods and tools to be used.
- Manage bank‑builds for engineering changes with container concepts and maximize layout utilization.
- Coordinate with the CFT to facilitate problem‑solving sessions for internal non‑conformances and external customer complaints related to stamping.
- Participate in departmental strategy planning and develop A3s to facilitate projects on digitalization, spend reduction, and CT reduction.
- Maintain end‑of‑line design/layout to maximize efficiency regarding material delivery, material flow, and container utilization.
- Design material conveyance solutions (e.g., blank pallets, stamped FG containers).
- BSc. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering or a College Diploma in Industrial Manufacturing.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with stamping press equipment and stamping automation.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience with various stamping processes, press and die workings is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with APQP, CAD, GD&T, PPAP, and PFMEA.
- Proficient in CAD software.
- Ability to multi‑task and meet deadlines.
