Overview

Palitronica is seeking a hands-on and highly organized Hardware Operations & Lab Technologist to support our engineering team.

This role combines technical procurement, inventory and asset management, hardware lab operations, and light electronics and mechanical technician work. You will help ensure that parts, equipment, prototypes, test devices, and internally manufactured hardware are properly purchased, organized, tracked, and available when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Procure electronic components, mechanical parts, tools, equipment, and lab consumables.
  • Request quotes, place orders, track deliveries, and coordinate with suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for purchased parts, manufactured assemblies, prototypes, production devices, fixtures, adapters, test equipment, and devices under test.
  • Receive, inspect, label, store, and issue incoming hardware and components.
  • Maintain organized storage areas, part locations, minimum stock levels, and replenishment processes.
  • Manage equipment and hardware sign-out, return, and location tracking.
  • Keep the hardware lab clean, safe, organized, and ready for engineering work.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance, calibration, repair, and lab supplies.
  • Support engineers with component kitting, prototype assembly, cable preparation, test setups, labelling, and basic hardware testing.
  • Assist with basic soldering, rework, mechanical assembly, and minor repairs, depending on experience.
  • Document serial numbers, configurations, modifications, hardware status, and inventory movements.
  • Support packaging, shipping, and receiving of hardware.
Required Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in electronics, electromechanical, mechanical engineering technology, supply chain, operations, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in a hardware lab, electronics environment, manufacturing operation, technical inventory role, or similar position.
  • Familiarity with electronic components, mechanical parts, tools, cables, connectors, and test equipment.
  • Experience with technical purchasing, inventory management, or asset tracking.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using spreadsheets, ERP, inventory, or asset-management systems.
  • Able to work safely and effectively in a hands-on, on-site hardware environment.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with soldering, electronics assembly, cable fabrication, or mechanical assembly.
  • Familiarity with BOMs, engineering drawings, part numbers, and assembly instructions.
  • Experience with ESD controls, equipment calibration, receiving inspection, or low-volume manufacturing.
