WSP’s RPM team is one of the most established and exciting teams in Canada. The team consists of environmental technicians, project coordinators, project managers, technical experts, and qualified professionals. We have been providing contaminated site program management services to the worlds most technically focused companies for over 15 years. We consistently have backlog of 9 to 12 months and provide growth opportunities for our high performing team members.

We specialize in health and safety, Phase I/II ESAs, risk assessment and remediation. Our team takes on the biggest Canadian projects from coast to coast to coast.

The projects range in type, size and complexity, and the successful candidate will be able to utilize the team strengths to manage a large amount of field work efficiently and effectively.

WSP has a new opportunity for a Contaminated Sites Project Manager to join our Remediation Program Management team based in Kingston, Toronto, London and Ottawa. This new opportunity will require you to manage risk and closure of contaminated sites. You will design and oversee field work related to monitoring, investigating, and remediating contaminated sites impacted by hydrocarbons (diesel, gasoline crude oil etc.)

fertilizers and metals, as well as prepare technical reports. It is expected that you are self-motivated and will demonstrate strong time management and communication skills.

Your Impact

Create a safe and positive environment for colleagues.

Lead a project team and take on responsibilities including:

Preparing health and safety plans and emergency response plans.

Preparation of proposals and cost estimates.

Scheduling of field staff and subcontractors.

Report writing including preparing conclusions and recommendations.

Project accounting, tracking and reporting requirements to the terms of reference under WSP’s Master Services Agreements.

Training junior staff in environmental practices including Phase I and II ESAs, drilling, surveying, groundwater sampling, oversight of remediation

Training staff on site specific health and safety.

Manage client relationships.

Collaborate across the national RPM team and WSP.

Provide guidance and mentorship to environmental scientists.

Develop a personal career development plan with specific goals to achieve your career aspirations.

The Skills That Set You Apart

Bachelor’s degree in related field (sciences and/or Engineering).

Minimum 8 years of experience in contaminated site assessments.

Sound understanding of the need for health and safety procedures in the workplace/Possess a safety conscious attitude.

An analytical mind; someone who is able to make recommendations on the next steps for client sites.

Strong business acumen and financial management experience, developing, tracking and forecasting on annual budgets.

Previous experience with soil and ground water sampling and remediation.

Understanding of the Ontario Environmental regulations.

Professional designation is preferred.

Experience in the oil and gas sector will be an asset.

Preference will be given to those individuals with more extensive experience with respect to soil and groundwater monitoring programs, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, site remediation, and provincial regulations.
