We are currently hiring for a Manufacturing Engineer in our London, Ontario location.

Safran Electrical Components Canada (SECC) is one of six facilities within the Safran Electrical Components division. The Safran Electrical Components division includes 1300 employees across North America and Europe. With approximately 40 employees operating on a single day shift, SECC is the division's smallest site. Despite the company name, the facility primarily manufactures fluid-conveyance products, including hose assemblies, tube assemblies, welded assemblies, manifolds, and other related components.

The manufacturing engineering is responsible for:

  • Supporting manufacturing assembly and fabrication to troubleshoot assembly and fabrication issues
  • Supporting quality non-conformances and root cause analysis
  • Overseeing the technical development for the manufacturing of products through their lifecycle
  • Providing support to leads and operators in production and quality
  • Planning, structuring and implementing new manufacturing programs
  • Providing engineering quotes for new business
  • Industrializing new products and deploying new manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Ensuring products, tools and equipment are deployed and operate correctly and safely
  • Improving process efficiency, line balancing, and capacity planning
  • Improving plant layout & material flow, and work cell layouts
  • Improving ergonomics & safety
Main Function Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on support for maintaining and troubleshooting tools and equipment
  • Provide daily technical and hands-on support for production
  • Review and disposition quality non-conformances
Document Control
  • Maintain, control and log customer drawings and documents
  • Setup new products and BoMs in ERP and MRP software applications
Design Support & Process Development
  • Review technical drawings, prepare BoMs and perform cost analysis
  • Create 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings
  • Develop and prepare sketches and write technical reports
  • Create and implement engineering changes (ECRs, ECOs and ECNs)
  • Create and maintain manufacturing processes, plans, work instructions, and procedures
  • Support production and QA with new product deployment
  • Plan and implement new production procedures, work instructions, processes and train operators
  • Design and create manufacturing work cells, fixtures, jigs, and tools
  • Research, select, deploy and qualify new tools and equipment
Plant and Production Line Planning
  • Improve line balancing and capacity planning
  • Support building layout improvements and maintenance
Other
  • Solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers
  • Support product material compliance (REACH, RoHs, and TSCA)
  • Participate and lead continuous improvement projects
  • Other tasks assigned by the Engineering Manager

  • This position requires extended periods of sitting while working at a computer, viewing monitors, and using standard office equipment such as telephones, computers, and copy machines. The role requires good hand and finger dexterity to perform detailed assembly and inspection activities. Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting of materials up to approximately 20 pounds may be required to complete job‑related tasks.
  • The primary work environment includes office setting with moderate office noise
  • The secondary work environment includes a production floor where PPE is required
  • International and/or Domestic travel may be required for training, and meeting customers or suppliers. Up to 5% of the time.

Must be available to work during regular business hours:

Mon-Thurs: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Fri: 8:00am - 2:00pm

Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000

This position involves working with controlled goods and is subject to Canada's Controlled Goods Program (CGP) regulations. Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain the required CGP registration/security assessment.

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in Industrial engineering, Mechanical engineering, Aerospace, Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree
