Manager, Restricted and Endowed Funds

The base salary will be $82,230 - $117,360 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

Financial Services provides financial leadership, services and guidance in support of the academic, research and service activities of Western's community.

The Endowment and Restricted Funds division provides exemplary financial management of donations, government funding and other sources of external and internal funds entrusted to The University for the support of the faculties, departments and students.

The Manager, Restricted and Endowed Funds provides effective leadership and accounting support to faculties and departments to enable them to fulfil their steward ships and accountability responsibilities with respect to endowed and expendable funds held in trust by the University. As a designated financial expert, the role is accountable for the financial reporting and analysis, forecasting, expenditure monitoring, cash flow management and compliance oversight.

The Manager will monitor current financial processes and assist with the development and implementation of new and revised processes to support continuous improvement and the mitigation of financial and operational risk to the University. The Manager, Restricted and Endowed Funds is a member of the team responsible for the preparation of the Combined Financial Statements and other complex financial reporting.

• Undergraduate Degree in Business Management/Administration
• Chartered Professional Accountant

• 7 years of financial accounting experience including financial statement preparation
• 3 years experience leading teams and projects
• Experience in a public sector or educational institution preferred

• In-depth knowledge of financial budgeting, financial analysis and planning
• Familiarity with best practices for assessing, developing and implementing new business processes and procedures
• Knowledge of accounting standards for not-for-profits and of complex reporting and accounting issues
• Analytical skills in the areas of financial and business management to draft budget proposals, forecast expenses and monitor relevant accounts
• Ability to effectively drive and manage change initiatives that align with organizational strategies and/or provide opportunities to increase efficiency
• Communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization
• Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
