Position: Junior Planner, Policy – 1 Vacancy
Location: Southwestern Ontario

REPORTS TO:

Manager of Policy Planning

LOCATION:

Initial Placement – Paris Customer Service Office

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary diploma in Urban Design, Urban and Regional Planning or related field.
  • Two (2) years relevant work experience, in a planning, building and/or engineering related setting.
  • Membership, or candidate membership, in Ontario Professional Planning Institute (OPPI) and/or Canadian Association of Certified Planning Technicians (CACPT).
  • Working knowledge of zoning by-laws, municipal planning processes, planning principles and applicable legislation (including Planning Act, Provincial Planning Statement and Provincial Guidelines).
  • Demonstrated tact and diplomacy skills and the ability to exercise discretion and judgment when handling confidential information.
  • Proficient in Adobe Reader and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook.
  • Advanced time management and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated safe work practices.
  • Valid G driver’s license and/or the ability to travel for site visits and between County offices and facilities as required.
Assets:
  • Experience working within a Planning Division in a municipal setting.
  • Experience utilizing City View software or similar electronic planning/ building permit processing software.
Duties:
  • Provide research support and analysis of provincial and municipal land use policies.
  • Assist with comprehensive and long-range planning studies conducted by the municipality, including project management, drafting requests for proposal, and guidance documents.
  • Provide policy interpretation as a subject matter expert to support implementation of the County of Brant’s Official Plan.
  • Facilitate public and stakeholder engagement on land use policy development.
  • Prepare municipally initiated Official Plan amendments, Zoning by-law amendments, and related planning reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Range:

$68,760 - $80,426 (Grade
5) 35 hours per week
