System Administrator; intermediate - senior
We are looking for an experienced System Administrator to take ownership of our on‑premises infrastructure and ensure the reliability, security, and performance of the firm’s core technology systems. This role works alongside another IT Administrator, who manages day‑to‑day support, while you focus on infrastructure operations, modernization, and technical leadership. We are open to intermediate to senior level skills and experience, and can adapt the position to the individual.
Our environment is evolving through automation, AI‑driven improvements, and ongoing upgrades. You will play a key role in shaping that evolution—designing solutions, implementing changes, and maintaining the systems our team depends on every day. The position requires a strong understanding of Windows‑based environments, virtualization, storage platforms, and end‑user productivity tools.
What You’ll Do- Maintain and support Windows Server systems, virtualization hosts, storage platforms, and network services.
- Lead infrastructure improvements, including upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects.
- Manage Hyper‑V clusters, virtual machines, and related services.
- Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and identity‑related components.
- Provide application support for Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and industry‑specific software.
- Monitor system health, performance, and security; respond to alerts and incidents.
- Maintain accurate documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.
- Work with external vendors and service providers as needed.
- Participate in after‑hours maintenance or support when required.
- Diploma in Information Technology or a university degree with a computer‑science component.
- Certifications are an asset (Microsoft AZ‑800/801, CompTIA Network+, MOS).
- Security certifications are beneficial but not mandatory (CISSP, CISM, Security+).
- 5–7+ years working with physical servers, Hyper‑V environments, RAID‑based storage, and NAS systems.
- Hands‑on experience supporting end users with Microsoft Office, Acrobat, and related applications.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals, security practices, and operational procedures.
- Experience with Synology or QNAP storage solutions.
- MSP experience is considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to support non‑technical users.
- Solid understanding of Windows Server, Windows 11, and Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency with Hyper‑V, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and related services.
- Knowledge of network design, VLANs, routing, firewalls, and high‑availability concepts.
- Experience with NAS administration, replication, and cloud‑based backup workflows.
- Interest in emerging technologies and continuous improvement.
- Robust analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Range: $65,000–$90,000, depending on skills and experience.
