Zurich Canada Technical Underwriting is looking for a Pricing Actuary to join our growing Commercial Business unit and report to the VP & Actuarial Director to support the pricing of new and renewal business as well as the development of effective premium/ rating structures and strategies in support of business objectives.

You Will Do
  • A high level of responsibility, ownership, and ability to influence strategic decisions. This is a great opportunity to work directly with the business and leadership teams.
  • In-depth review of the pricing algorithm for all aspects of A&H Lines, supported by global footprint and expertise.
  • Set and communicate the pricing algorithm requirements for production systems.
  • Monitor performance of the A&H book and track accuracy and completeness of key performance indicators.
  • Investment in upscaling pricing capabilities.

  • Constantly evolve lines of business, with endless opportunities to add value through new insights and pricing techniques.
  • Calculate profit margins on new and renewal business.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and perform actuarial analysis.
  • Analyze loss and expense reserves.
  • Provide consultation on actuarial models and risk issues.
  • Support Market Facing and Technical Underwriters on pricing decisions.
  • Ensure the implementation of required governance processes, maintaining compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Job Qualifications – What You Bring To The Table
Required:
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate’s Degree.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Actuarial Sciences.
  • 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area.
  • FCAS or equivalent international certification.
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area.
  • ACAS or equivalent international certification.
Preferred:
  • FCAS designation.
  • Previous actuarial experience with Professional Lines of business.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and / or knowledge of statistical analysis software (such as SQL and R).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical analysis results to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience collaborating on cross-functional team projects.
  • Verbal and written proficiency in the English language is required to facilitate communication with internal and external key stakeholders located outside of Quebec.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $110,000 – $160,000. This range reflects the expected pay for the role across Canada and may vary depending on factors such as office location, specific responsibilities, and individual qualifications. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable compensation range, but starting salaries may exceed this range based on a candidate’s skills and experience.
