HVAC Operations Supervisor – Cross-Regional
- Full Time Position

Description:

Reporting to Building Systems Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and performance of building mechanical systems across the portfolio. The Supervisor acts as the primary escalation point for complex system issues and contractor coordination. In collaboration with our interdisciplinary teams, you will work within programs that are supporting residents who are experiencing mental health concerns and/or substance use and who require supports to maintain housing stability.

Hours of Work:

Full Time 40hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm with some flexibility.

Location:

Based in London or St.Thomas while travelling to Indwell program locations across Hamilton, Mississauga, Simcoe, Woodstock, Kitchener, plus others in the near future. F requency of travel based on needs .

WHAT Y0U WILL BE DOING:
  • Supervise, mentor, and support building system coordinators and maintenance staff by providing technical guidance for troubleshooting complex HVAC and hydronic system issues. Assign workloads, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Manage preventative maintenance (PM) contracts and ensure PM schedules are adhered to and optimized for system performance and equipment longevity. Coordinate and approve contractor maintenance activities and service schedules.
  • Lead investigation and diagnosis of complex or recurring system issues. Analyse root causes and ensure long-term solutions are implemented locally and cross-regionally. Determine when issues should be handled internally versus escalated to external contractors.
  • Manage relationships with external service contractors. Review scopes of work, quotes, and service reports to ensure contractors meet performance expectations, safety requirements, and service standards.
  • Manage site’s BAS/BMS systems for alarms and abnormalities requiring service and system repairs, schematic changes, or upgrades.
  • Support capital projects, including planning, execution, and commissioning by overseeing installation of new equipment and system upgrades. Coordinate electrical, mechanical, and controls integration for new systems.
  • Collaborating with facilities and program staff as part of the multi-disciplinary team to support residents/tenants through creative problem solving, trauma-informed care, and relationship building
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
  • 5+ years of experience in building operations, HVAC, or mechanical systems, with leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, hydronics, ventilation, and building automation systems
  • Computer experience:
    Internet, spreadsheets and heating/air conditioning controls.
  • Proficiency in YARDI software preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to interact effectively with others
  • A basic understanding of and compassion for individuals who have experienced mental health concerns and/or substance use
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse team
  • Commitment to Indwell Values and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Must have own vehicle and a valid “G” class driver’s license
