Production Supervisor

Element5 designs and manufactures sustainable mass timber components for commercial and residential projects across Canada. We are seeking a hands‑on Production Supervisor (Afternoon Shift) to lead Glulam operations and support safe, efficient, and high‑quality production.
About the Role:In this role, you will lead the Glulam Line on the afternoon shift (Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM–2:00 AM), overseeing daily production activities, supporting team members on the plant floor, and ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency remain top priorities.
Responsibilities:- Supervise daily operations on the Glulam line including Glulam CNC machines.
- Coordinate operators and production staff to meet schedules and quality standards
- Plan and organize workflow to meet operational goals, leveraging team strengths and encouraging collaboration.
- Enforce safety protocols and promote a strong safety culture
- Plan workflows, assign tasks, and support cross‑training initiatives
- Maintain up‑to‑date records and reports on production output, material usage, equipment performance, and team productivity. Escalate challenges and improvements to senior management.
- Identifies equipment issues promptly and collaborates with maintenance staff to resolve them efficiently.
- Coordinate job assignments and cross‑training initiatives across teams and departments to ensure flexibility and coverage.
- Partner with Human Resources and direct leadership on employee relations matters, including disputes, complaints, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
- Provide input to management to facilitate effective cost reduction, work simplification, scheduling, or other continuous improvement measures.
- Approve employee timecards and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support departmental and organizational goals.
- Strong people leadership with a coaching and mentoring mindset

- Skilled at identifying and resolving operational challenges using a strength‑based approach.
- Strong understanding of processes, material flow, and machinery.
- Proficient in office software and tools, including Smartsheet and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Acts with professionalism, integrity, and ethical judgment.
- Builds trust, fosters team commitment, and leads by example.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional technical education or training is considered an asset.
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or processing environment; wood or timber industry experience preferred.
- CNC machining and fabrication experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams and improving production efficiency.
