This is a front-line, clinical position providing addiction medicine, crisis intervention, and system navigation related to substance use health.
This position provides support and care pathways to community-based addiction and mental health services in a collaborative manner to reduce avoidable, unnecessary and repeat emergency department visits.
As a Nurse Practitioner, you will be working with addiction counsellors, nurses, primary care providers, emergency room physicians and other community health service providers in offering addiction medical support for individual clients living with mental illness and addiction through a harm-reduction lens.
The Nurse Practitioner Functions interdependently with staff members to provide shared, client-centered care that emphasizes health promotion/protection, disease prevention and client education.

What you'll be making
- Starting rate for this role is $65.69 per hour (Level 1 of the Nurse Practitioner Grid) ;
Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8, $70.87 per hour Internal applicants will be placed on the grid based on their seniority When you'll work - 14-hours over two-week period;
Saturday-Sunday 10am-6pm, including a 1-hour unpaid lunch What your benefits will be - 9% in lieu of benefits Your pension plan – Immediately eligible for optional enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
Maintain requirements for practice, including a license for a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class, NP/Physician Collaborative Practice Agreement, and malpractice insurance.
Maintain confidentiality and act in an ethical manner, consistent with professional expectations and the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
Retain clinical competence through relevant evidence-based research and legislation.
Proficient in computer skills and experience with electronic medical record systems (i.e.
PS Suites).
Demonstrate ability, commitment to and knowledge of community addictions and mental health care.
The Nurse Practitioner will provide Health Care Services to London Health Sciences Centre patients presenting to the Emergency Department:
Exhibit knowledge of evidence-informed guidelines, legislation, regulation and organizational policies when prescribing controlled drugs/substances (CDS).
Demonstrate an understanding of best practices related to the use of CDS and of other pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapeutic options.
Excellent communication, decision-making, problem-solving, conflict management and time management skills.
Demonstrate ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
Provide health care services to clients 18 years and older that meet eligibility.
Provide leadership and guidance for the development of expanded medical services at CMHA TVAMHS Perform comprehensive care using advanced health assessment, physical examination, therapeutic management, consultation, collaboration and referrals.
Work in collaboration with consulting physician and the inter-professional team to provide client-centred health care services.
Maintain client records for accuracy and confidentiality.
Support the health needs of individuals with a history of addictions, mental health and other chronic illnesses and refer to specialists and other community agencies Demonstrate ability to deal effectively with sensitive issues with clients and families using a harm-reduction and client-centred approach.
