Nurse Practitioner, Substance Use Disorder Service (SUDS)

Part-Time, Permanent – Two positions available.

London, ON (London Zone)

• Starting rate: $65.69 per hour (Level 1 of the Nurse Practitioner Grid). Successful external applicants may start at Level 1, progressing to Level 8 at $70.87 per hour. Internal applicants placed based on seniority.
• Work Schedule: 14‑hour shift over a two‑week period;
  Saturday‑Sunday 10 am–6 pm, including a 1‑hour unpaid lunch.
• Benefits: 9 % in lieu of benefits.
• Pension: Immediate eligibility for optional enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).

• Maintain practice requirements, including registration as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class, NP/Physician Collaborative Practice Agreement, and malpractice insurance.
• Maintain confidentiality and act ethically in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Retain clinical competence through evidence‑based research and legislation.
• Proficient in computer skills and experience with electronic medical record systems (e.g., PS Suites).
• Demonstrate commitment to and knowledge of community addictions and mental health care.
• Provide health‑care services to Emergency Department patients with substance‑use disorders, including prescribing controlled drugs, pharmacological and non‑pharmacological therapies, and comprehensive care.
• Work effectively within an interdisciplinary team and collaborate with consulting physicians.
• Maintain client records accurately and confidentially; coordinate care transitions and community service plans.
• Apply a harm‑reduction, client‑centred approach to sensitive issues, and facilitate follow‑up appointments.

• Registered Nurse in the Extended Class, registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months.
• Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly.

• Master’s Degree.
• NVCI and ASIST training.
• Training to administer Naloxone.
• Suboxone online education programme.
• At least 2 years of community health‑care experience.
• Experience in addiction medicine, harm reduction, and crisis prevention.
• Knowledge of community resources, entitlement and benefit programmes (e.g., ODSP, Ontario Works, London Housing).
• Knowledge of crisis‑prevention strategies, risk assessment, relapse prevention, and WHMIS, fire, health and safety procedures.
• Bilingual in both official languages preferred.

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) completed in the last six months. Applicants residing in the City of London are encouraged to apply for a PVSC promptly, as processing can take up to five weeks.
