• -Current Certification of Competence as a Registered Practical Nurse with the Ontario College of Nurses.
• -Current BCLS certification.
• -2 years hospital nursing experience within the past 3 years.
• -Experience with techniques of coaching patients to be independent with Activities of Daily Living.
• -Certificate in Gerontology
• -1 year Geriatric experience within the past 3 years.
• Practice level consistent with the full scope of practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario, which includes but is not limited to:
• -Evidence of the successful, administration and management of blood & blood products
• -Evidence of the successful completion and/or practice in processing physician orders, administration of oral, subcutaneous, IM, suppository, aerosol and IV medications, venipuncture and IV management
• -Demonstrated adherence to the expectations of nursing practice at CKHA
• -Familiarity with MDS Chronic Care Assessment Tool preferred.
• -Fundamentals in Palliative Care preferred
