About the Position

This position will be involved in the preparation of samples tested in the LC/MS Department. Please note this is a contract position from May - November 2026.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Conduct preparation of samples following documented specific methods;
  • Prepare calibration and quality control standards, duplicates, and spike samples within the batches;
  • Prepare required reagents;
  • Perform instrument set-up and execute data acquisition on LC-MS/MS, as required;
  • Clean glassware in accordance to specific methods;
  • Calibrate syringes and measuring tubes to meet requirements;
  • Maintain temperature control charts on various equipment;
  • Organize workload to meet Turn Around Times (TAT’s) and hold times;
  • Assist senior analysts in method development;
  • Carry-out all required record-keeping and documentation;
  • Adherence to Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs)
  • Adhere to strict QA/QC requirements;
  • Disposal of solvent and vial waste;
  • Keep the working environment clean and safe;
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must be well organised and able to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Must be a careful and meticulous worker;
  • Related computer use, data spreadsheets, Excel and Word, LIMS
  • Data entry skills required.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Completion of diploma or degree in chemistry or related field;
  • Related lab experience an asset (HPLC, LC/MS, analysis of pharmaceuticals and personal care products).
Physical Demands
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;
  • Ability to stand for a full shift;
  • You may be exposed to unpleasant odours;
  • Lift up to 30lbs and carry for short distances;

ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.

  • An estimated hourly pay of $22.27 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
