Howard University in Washington DC is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate the genetic underpinnings of health disparities and develop strategies to address them.

- Design and conduct genomic studies, including whole genome sequencing, Sanger sequencing, and SNP genotyping.
- Analyze data, interpret findings, and publish and present results.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on projects addressing health disparities.
- Work with large-scale genomic datasets such as GWAS, next‑generation sequencing data, or electronic health records to identify biomarkers associated with health disparities.
- Participate actively in lab and group meetings, seminars, and scientific conferences.
- Coordinate on‑site and virtual meetings and lectures as needed.
- Maintain and mentor trainees, perform administrative tasks, and organize seminars and lecture series.
- Travel as required to collaborate on project objectives.
- Write scientific manuscripts, regular reports, and grant proposals.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
- Time and project management with personal initiative.
- Mentoring trainees and performing job‑related administrative tasks.
- Responsive communication and ability to take direction from the PI.
- Scientific writing: regular reports, manuscripts, and grant proposals.
- Organization of seminars and lecture series for the project and the wider community.
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in genomics, genetics, molecular biology, ecology, bioinformatics, public health, microbiology, biophysics, quantum biology, or a related discipline.
- Computational experience in Chimera, PyMOL, or similar biomolecular modeling software.
- Programming experience in Python, Fortran, and/or C (desired).
Compliance Salary Range Disclosure: $60,000 – $70,000.
