Job DescriptionPrimary Purpose The University of Waterloo Libraries is the campus's partner in learning, research and innovation. The Researcher Visibility and Identity Lead is a member of the University of Waterloo Libraries and will lead the coordination, enhancement, and long-term sustainability of persistent digital identifier (PID) services and infrastructure to support open research, scholarly communications, and research impact and intelligence infrastructure s position reports to the Bibliometrics and Research Impact Librarian, works closely with the Associate Vice President, Research Oversight and Integrity (in the Office of Research), and aligns priorities with partners such as the Office of Vice President Research, Research Systems and Analytics Team and the Institutional Analysis and Planning.
The incumbent is accountable for developing, coordinating, delivering, monitoring, assessing, and advancing the use of PIDs and related systems intended for use in research intelligence to support the research mission of the university. This role will support the stewardship, services, infrastructure and processes related to scholarly communications, open access and open science.
- Lead the ongoing operation, optimization, and sustainability of a digital identifier (PID) infrastructure such as the Open Contributor and Researcher (ORCID), the ORCID Affiliation Manager and related systems, such as Scopus profiles ensuring data integrity for name disambiguation and institutional affiliation assertion.
- Develop and maintain a sustainability framework for ORCID adoption and integration across faculties and research units.
- Develop and deliver a project plan and associated project management documentation.
- Inform key project partners on project status.
- Develop and manage technical workflows needed to support the creation, management and use of PIDs.
- Oversee data quality, validation processes, and integration workflows to support accurate and connected research information in collaboration with campus partners.
- Develop methods to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the use of persistent digital identifiers in research intelligence work at Waterloo.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, students and campus partners to support the integration of persistent identifiers into the research intelligence analysis process.
- Serve as a campus resource for understanding and taking control of online digital identities.
- Promote sustained engagement and adoption of ORCID and related services across the research lifecycle.
