Support youth mental wellness as a Child and Youth Counsellor II in Waterloo, using therapeutic techniques and collaborative care planning. This full-time contract is on-site and requires travel.
Starling Community Services seeks a Child and Youth Counsellor II for its Benjamin Road, Birchlands program. You will supervise, monitor, support, and coach clients through treatment and academic programming. The work includes individual and group counselling, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, social emotional learning, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and coach clients throughout treatment and academic programs
- Counsel youth individually and in groups using DBT
- Develop and implement client care goals and objectives
- Liaise with families, community partners, and internal teams
- Maintain files, monitor security, and communicate medication information
- Relevant child and youth work degree or diploma
- At least one year working in a milieu setting
- Experience working with youth and relating warmly
- First Aid, CPR, CIT training, and a G license
- Professional communication, organization, teamwork, and decision-making skills
