As the Software Engineering Lead
, you will bring your leadership expertise, technical acumen, and passion for agile methodologies to guide our talented team. This is your chance to contribute to the development of innovative, mission‑critical products while helping build a sustainable and future‑ready software infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Establish, mentor, and facilitate modern software development and testing best practices.
  • Actively reinforce a performance‑based work ethic, supporting departmental goals for utilization, efficiency and innovation.
  • Design, develop, document, test and debug mission critical software to meet customer and industry standards.
  • Ensure industry and customer specific hardware and software standards are met.
  • Develop and maintain standardized reporting and dashboards to keep leadership informed of progress and key metrics.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering to integrate vendor equipment, components and systems with Raytheon equipment.
  • Maintain and enhance tooling infrastructure, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
  • Support the team’s agile journey by mentoring and guiding team members in modern agile methodologies.
  • Ensure software development meets coding quality metrics and deliver well documented, maintainable and scalable code.
  • Contribute to the modernization of the software team’s infrastructure to align with future growth and technological advancements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • 15 + years of experience in software development for mission critical systems Experience mentoring software professionals.
  • Experience in agile methodologies and fostering an agile culture within a team.
  • Strong understanding of modern software development processes and methodologies
  • Proficient in software languages such as C, C++, Python and Bash scripting.
  • Strong experience with Linux operating systems and software configuration management tools.
  • Hands on experience with cybersecurity methodologies and implementation strategies.
  • Proficient with tools such as GIT, GITLab/Bit Bucket, Jira/Confluence, Artifactory, Grafana, Perforce and CI/CD integration workflows.
  • Knowledge of networking and wireless communication protocols (e.g.UDP, TCP, SNMP) is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Recent leadership training and Earned Value Management (EVM) experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Radar Systems, Radar Communications Systems or other mission critical applications with high uptime requirements would be is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Matlab, Solaris, Wind River VxWorks, and Mercury Computer operating systems is a plus.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is 101,500 CAD - 151,500 CAD. RTX offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical and dental coverage, disability benefits, a retirement savings program, and tuition assistance through RTX’s Employee Scholar Program. Eligibility for specific benefits is based on factors such as position level, employment type, and business unit.

Additional Information

This position is required to work onsite at our facility in Waterloo, Ontario.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check and obtain/maintain a Government of Canada security clearance and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods.
