Overview: Assist engineers and management in engineering planning and design of electric distribution system expansion and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Meet with customers to determine their electrical service needs.
• Prepare or assist in preparation of field layouts of routine jobs, such as staking, sketching, inventories, estimates, work request preparation, and materials utilizing company work management and graphical design tools.
• Make, or assist in making, routine technical surveys or analyses, such as load balance or voltage drop calculations.
• Inspect work for conformance to drawings and specifications.
• Acquire or assist in the acquisition of distribution easements.
• Perform surveying and general transit work.
• Settle damage claims pertaining to construction and rebuilding of lines.
• Prepare engineering drawings from work prints and field notes.
• Perform and assist technical employees with routine engineering duties in office.
• Assist, as necessary, in storm restoration.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications – Required

Education and Experience:

Associate degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering or design drafting, or a high‑school diploma and a minimum of two years working in a utility industry, technical industry, or engineering industry.

Preferred Experience:

• Knowledge of electric delivery system, construction standards, materials, and equipment, basic math, algebra, and trigonometry.
• Above‑average interpersonal relations, communication, organizing, and analytical skills and full competency in computer usage.
