Overview: Assist engineers and management in engineering planning and design of electric distribution system expansion and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with customers to determine their electrical service needs.
- Prepare or assist in preparation of field layouts of routine jobs, such as staking, sketching, inventories, estimates, work request preparation, and materials utilizing company work management and graphical design tools.
- Make, or assist in making, routine technical surveys or analyses, such as load balance or voltage drop calculations.
- Inspect work for conformance to drawings and specifications.
- Acquire or assist in the acquisition of distribution easements.
- Perform surveying and general transit work.
- Settle damage claims pertaining to construction and rebuilding of lines.
- Prepare engineering drawings from work prints and field notes.
- Perform and assist technical employees with routine engineering duties in office.
- Assist, as necessary, in storm restoration.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications – Required
Education and Experience:
Associate degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering or design drafting, or a high‑school diploma and a minimum of two years working in a utility industry, technical industry, or engineering industry.
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of electric delivery system, construction standards, materials, and equipment, basic math, algebra, and trigonometry.
- Above‑average interpersonal relations, communication, organizing, and analytical skills and full competency in computer usage.
