Overview

The Risk Management function is critical to Enstar. The function’s deliverables include quarterly risk reports, annual regulatory risk reports such as the Group Solvency Assessments (GSSAs), Commercial Insurer’s Solvency Self‑Assessment (CISSAs) and Own Risk and Solvency Assessments (ORSAs), as well as other ad‑hoc regulatory risk reporting. The Risk Function operates under the Enstar ERM Framework, which identifies key risks to the business.

The purpose of this role is to support the execution of the Enstar ERM Framework within the Non‑Life Run Off (“NLRO”) entities, ensuring effective processes are in place to meet the requirements of the Board(s) and regulators, including generation of accurate and timely risk reporting at Risk Committees and Boards and ad‑hoc support for projects.

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables
  • Support the newly implemented cross‑regional ERM Reporting/Operations staff pooling structure, managing resources across the group.
  • Demonstrate flexibility under the staff pooling structure, working on initiatives across the Group under Senior Managers to whom you do not report.
  • Assist Group Reporting & Bermuda Senior Risk Manager in preparing quarterly and annual risk reports in Bermuda, the US and UK/EU, ensuring delivery to the agreed timetable and of high quality.
  • Generate concise summaries of key risk‑related information for senior management, including risk and control assessments, incidents and risk metrics.
  • Interpret and validate material, conduct trend analysis of risk metrics within the wider Risk Appetite Framework, incorporating company or industry intelligence.
  • Maintain infrastructure of risk management processes for monitoring risk across relevant entities.
  • Support maintenance and reporting on the risk appetite framework, ensuring accuracy of information presented to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with risk management regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Liaise and report to Enstar Risk Management to align with Group‑wide ERM objectives and keep up‑to‑date risk information for the Solvency Self‑Assessment Process.
  • Collate and prepare Management Committee packs, generate minutes, track remediation actions and report progress.
  • Oversee and challenge entities’ systems, processes and controls in respect of risk management.
  • Support the quarterly Risk and Control attestation process, following up on relevant risks and owners.
  • Work with the first line on operational incidents and root cause analysis.
  • Contribute to risk management projects and deep dives as directed by the Regional CRO or other assignments.
  • Own discrete risk initiatives and projects, ensuring timely delivery at high quality.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness within Enstar.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required by Enstar.

Technical Knowledge and Understanding
  • Insurance and/or risk management professional qualification preferred (not essential).
  • Good understanding of insurance terminology and associated risks.
  • Practical experience of Risk Management / ERM within the insurance industry.
