Data Engineer

Job Profile

Data Engineer – Swap Clear, part of LSEG’s Swap Clear Technology team. Works on data warehouse, analytics, and reporting solutions that support Swap Clear Clearing operations.

• Take ownership of analysis, design, development, and delivery of software solutions.
• Estimate, report progress, and liaise with business analysts, developers, and CI teams.
• Contribute to unit, integration testing, and test case design/execution.
• Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and participate in out‑of‑hours support rota.
• Document technical specifications, workflows, and system designs.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum activities: sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives.

• 5+ years of practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability using Python, Spark, ANSI SQL, and DBT.
• Expertise in Data Warehousing, Data Science & Analytics.
• Expertise in Python coding, Spark, and distributed computing.
• Working knowledge of relational databases including Oracle and Snowflake.
• Experience with performance tuning and system optimisation.
• Experience with test‑driven development.
• Experience with GIT source‑control.
• Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Adaptability to changing project requirements and technologies.

• Finance domain experience and knowledge of FpML.
• Exposure to containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to cloud technology.
