Working closely with our Finance and Operations teams, you’ll manage reconciliation processes to ensure timely and accurate balancing of financial transactions. Your focus will be on managing payment reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, and collaborating with various stakeholders to drive improvements and maintain a high level of operational accuracy.

  • Perform daily reconciliations across internal cash ledgers and external bank statements, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely sign off.
  • Reconcile payment scheme and settlement accounts, investigating variances and ensuring accurate posting and settlement finality.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve cash breaks, including unmatched items, timing differences, failed payments, and posting errors, maintaining clear audit trails.
  • Work closely with Payment Operations and Finance to resolve exceptions, track ageing items, and ensure appropriate escalation for high risk or high value breaks.
  • Support month end close by ensuring all reconciliations are complete, reconciling control accounts, and preparing evidence for Financial Control review.
  • Maintain and improve reconciliation processes, templates, and controls, including standard operating procedures and review checklists.
  • Support the development of automated reconciliation capability, including data mapping, exception reporting, and root cause analysis to reduce manual effort and risk.
  • Use Excel and data tools to analyse transaction level data, identify patterns, and provide insight into recurring breaks and process weaknesses.
  • Liaise with external banks, payment partners, and scheme providers to resolve discrepancies, obtain statements, and support query resolution.
  • Ensure reconciliations and supporting documentation meet internal policy requirements and are audit ready at all times.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Finance and Operations to strengthen end‑to‑end cash controls and reduce operational risk.
About You Required Skills
  • Ability to perform accurate, timely, and well‑controlled cash reconciliations across multiple accounts and cash books, maintaining strong supporting evidence and sign‑off discipline.
  • Ability to investigate cash breaks, identify root causes, and drive resolution with Finance, Operations, and third parties, with clear escalation of high‑risk or high‑value items.
  • Ability to manage high‑volume transaction data with excellent attention to detail, maintaining accuracy under time pressure and competing priorities.
  • Ability to use Excel at an advanced level to analyse and reconcile data, including pivot tables, lookups, structured templates, and exception reporting.
  • Ability to maintain clear documentation, audit trails, and control checklists to ensure reconciliations are always audit ready.
  • Ability to work effectively with bank statements, ledger postings, settlement flows, and payment‑related control accounts, understanding end‑to‑end cash movement.
  • Ability to collaborate cross‑functionally with Payments Operations, Financial Control, Treasury, and external partners to resolve issues quickly and prevent recurrence.
  • Ability to improve processes and support automation, including data mapping and moving toward exception‑based reconciliations in a scaling environment.
  • Ability to prioritise work by risk, value, and ageing, taking ownership and escalating appropriately to protect the bank’s balance sheet.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree level education in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience in a reconciliation or financial control role.
  • Demonstrable experience in cash reconciliations, ideally within a bank, fintech, payments firm, or regulated financial services environment.
