Assistant Financial Controller

We are working with a specialty insurer to recruit an Assistant Controller to support the leadership of a high-performing finance function. This is a senior role within the controllership team, with responsibility for overseeing financial reporting, controls, and regulatory compliance while partnering closely with stakeholders across the business.

• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Review and support preparation of statutory financial statements and reporting
• Ensure robust balance sheet controls and reconciliations
• Support group reporting and coordination with international teams
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, and insurance regulatory requirements
• Lead improvements in financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks
• Manage internal and external audit processes and key stakeholder relationships
• Oversee client money processes in line with CASS 5 regulations
• Provide leadership and guidance to finance team members
• Partner with senior stakeholders to support business performance and decision-making

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Strong experience within insurance, MGA, broker, or London Market environment
• Proven experience in a controllership or financial reporting role
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Experience managing audits and reporting cycles
• Advanced Excel and financial systems expertise
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
