The OpportunityWe're looking for a Finance Assistant – Accounts Payable to join our Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day running of our accounts payable function, ensuring transactions are processed accurately, supplier accounts are well maintained and our financial records meet the required standards.
You'll work closely with colleagues across the business as well as our suppliers, so we're looking for someone who combines strong attention to detail with a helpful, organised and collaborative approach.
We're also continually looking at how technology can help us work smarter. You don't need to be an AI expert, but we'd love someone who is curious about AI tools, automation and process improvement, and interested in exploring practical ways these can make everyday finance processes more efficient.
What You'll Be Doing- Receiving and recording supplier invoices
- Maintaining supplier ledger information, including contact details and VAT information
- Allocating invoices to production purchase orders
- Preparing initial payment runs and allocating payments to invoices
- Recording and comparing invoices received against estimates and forecasts
- Ensuring invoices are approved in time to meet established payment cycles
- Acting as the first point of contact for supplier queries
- Managing employee expenses
- Supporting accurate financial record keeping and the wider Finance team as required
- Being open to new ways of working and contributing ideas around process improvement, automation and the practical use of AI
You'll ideally bring:
- Previous experience in accounts payable
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- A good understanding of basic bookkeeping
- Knowledge of accounts payable and receivable principles
- The ability to understand and manage financial records
- Strong and accurate data-entry skills
- Good numerical skills and an understanding of accounting concepts, including expense coding
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- The ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and suppliers
- Proficiency with accounting software
- A curious mindset and a genuine interest in process improvement, automation and the practical application of AI
