Hybrid working available The Opportunity A respected public sector organisation based on the outskirts of Romford is seeking an experienced Year-End Audit Preparation Accountant to support the finance team through a busy year-end period.
This is a hands-on interim assignment where you'll play a key role in preparing the organisation for external audit, ensuring financial records are accurate, reconciled, and fully supported. The role offers flexibility through hybrid working and would suit an experienced finance professional who can hit the ground running.
Key Responsibilities Prepare year-end working papers and audit schedules. Lead on balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items. Support the production of financial statements and supporting documentation. Respond to auditor queries and provide relevant evidence. Review accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and journals. Ensure all audit files are complete, accurate and readily accessible. Work closely with budget holders and senior finance staff to gather information.
Assist with process improvements and strengthen financial controls where required. About You Applications are welcomed from:
Qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
Part-qualified accountants
Qualified by Experience (QBE) accountants with strong year-end and audit preparation experience You will also have:
Previous experience supporting year-end audits. Strong reconciliation and financial reporting skills. Excellent Excel skills. Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Experience with in the public sector or not-for-profit sector would be advantageous but is not essential. What's on Offer? Up to £300 per day (Inside IR35). 3-month interim contract.
