Job Description & How to Apply Below
Redbus Ventures invests in early stage ventures, predominantly in the UK. Alongside our core venture activity, we allocate capital to special situations, including acquiring businesses that require reorganisation and purchasing assets that are materially undervalued.
The Role
We're looking for a part-time Financial Controller (2 days per week) to work closely with our leadership team to build and run the finance function within Redbus Ventures. You'll own core financial operations end to end while implementing the processes, controls, and systems.
About You
- You are confident being the finance lead across groups or a portfolio of investee companies.
- You've set up or run finance functions for multiple businesses simultaneously (e.g. as a client manager, portfolio FC, or in an accounts team at a practice)
- Comfortable working autonomously across a broad remit and building processes from scratch
- A background in accountancy practice or client accounting, having managed several entities concurrently would be looked at favourably but in-house careers will also be considered.
What You Will Own
- The month-end and year-end close process across the group, including management accounts, and consolidated reporting.
- Cash flow forecasting, treasury, and intercompany transactions across the group.
- Payroll with accounts payable, expenses, and the spend approval process.
- Statutory compliance across the group including Companies House filings, annual accounts, VAT, and corporation tax.
- Relationships with auditors, external accountants, and tax advisors.
- The design and continuous improvement of financial controls, policies, and processes.
Essential Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (full ACA or ACCA membership)
- Experience with EIS/SEIS advance assurance applications and compliance filings, supporting investor tax relief across portfolio investments.
- Solid experience with UK statutory accounts, compliance, and governance, including hands-on Companies House filings
- Experience with modern accounting and HR/payroll software (e.g. Xero, Quick Books, Rippling)
- Willing to work from our central London office 2 days per week
Nice to Have
- Experience with charity accounting (Charities SORP) and Charity Commission compliance, including trustees' annual reports and annual returns.
- Exposure to personal tax matters for UHNW individuals or family principals, including self-assessment, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax.
- Proven experience as a financial leader
