A key Reinsurance Accounting role within the Finance function, acting as the subject matter expert for ceded reinsurance accounting across the business. The role is responsible for accurate monthly reporting, financial controls, reconciliations and data quality, while partnering with Reinsurance Operations, Finance, Actuarial, FP&A and other stakeholders. It also provides input into process improvements and supports US GAAP reporting and audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Produce accurate and timely monthly reinsurance metrics, including ceded premiums, claims, reserves, IBNR and acquisition costs.
• Oversee the accurate recording, allocation and reconciliation of ceded reinsurance balances across entities and financial systems.
• Perform financial controls, reconciliations and schedules for ceded technical insurance balances.
• Work closely with Reinsurance Operations to ensure contracts, recoveries and reinstatements are accurately captured.
• Drive improvements to reinsurance accounting processes, controls and reporting efficiency.
• Maintain data quality and currency allocations across core finance systems.
• Support external auditors with relevant schedules and explanations.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Actuarial, Reinsurance and Regulatory Reporting teams.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with the wider Group/Head Office technical accounting team on reporting and reinsurance accounting matters.

Must Haves
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience.
• Strong reinsurance technical accounting experience, ideally across the Lloyd’s and/or company markets.
• Strong understanding of reinsurance accounting principles and US GAAP.
• Advanced Excel skills;
Alteryx and SQL experience desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly with large and complex datasets.
• Excellent organisation, time management and communication skills.
• Collaborative approach with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
