This is a superb opportunity for an ambitious practice experienced professional to join a supportive and forward-thinking firm, working with a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and corporate clients across a variety of sectors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality audit and accounts services, working closely with managers and partners while building strong client relationships and developing their technical expertise.
The RoleAs an Audit & Accounts Senior / Semi-Senior, you will be responsible for managing audit assignments, preparing statutory accounts, and providing valuable financial insights to clients. The position offers a varied workload and excellent career development opportunities within a professional and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities- Planning, leading, and completing statutory audits for a varied client portfolio.
- Preparing statutory accounts and financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Reviewing financial information and identifying areas of risk, improvement, and opportunities for clients.
- Assisting with audit planning, fieldwork, and completion assignments.
- Conducting audit testing and evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls.
- Analysing financial data and presenting findings clearly to clients and senior management.
- Preparing management accounts and supporting clients with financial reporting requirements.
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain information, resolve queries, and provide professional guidance.
- Supervising and mentoring junior team members where appropriate.
- Working with accounting software including CCH, Xero, and other cloud-based systems.
- Ensuring assignments are completed efficiently and within agreed deadlines.
- Keeping up to date with relevant accounting standards, legislation, and auditing requirements.
- ACA / ACCA part-qualified, qualified, or qualified by experience.
- Previous experience within a UK based accountancy practice in an audit and accounts role.
- Strong experience of statutory audit work and financial statement preparation.
- Good working knowledge of UK accounting and audit regulations.
- Experience using accounting software such as CCH, IRIS, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional, client-focused, and proactive approach.
