Assistant Group Accountant – 12 Month FTC

Central London (Hybrid – 1–2 days WFH) Salary: £50,000 – £60,000  benefits Our client, a multinational commodities trading group, is looking for an Assistant Group Accountant to join its central London finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or finalist ACA / ACCA accountant with group consolidation experience, either from an audit background or an existing industry role.

The position offers broad exposure across group reporting, year-end, budgeting, and technical accounting within an international environment. Responsibilities Support the monthly group consolidation process Prepare monthly group management accounts and reporting Maintain financial results for a number of group and holding entities Assist with consolidation journals, intercompany adjustments, and reporting queries Support the year-end close and statutory reporting process Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit queries Assist with the annual budgeting process Work closely with international finance teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting Support technical accounting matters and ad hoc group finance projects Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, and finance processes Role Requirements Newly qualified or finalist ACA / ACCA, or equivalent Consolidation experience is essential, either from industry or auditing group consolidations Candidates making their first move from audit will be considered Strong Excel skills Good understanding of financial reporting and core accounting principles Experience working with auditors, either in practice or industry Exposure to technical accounting or financial statements preparation would be advantageous Strong attention to detail and communication skills Proactive, organised, and comfortable working to reporting deadlines Collaborative approach with an interest in improving processes and reporting
