Temporary Payroll Assistant - £14.00 - £15.00 per hour
- Full or Part Time
- Initial 3 Month Contract with Potential for Extension An established business is seeking a Payroll Assistant to join its payroll team on a temporary basis. This role has been created to provide additional support during a particularly busy period and will focus on payroll administration, data entry, reconciliations, and supporting the accurate processing of monthly payrolls. Working as part of an experienced payroll team, you will play a key role in ensuring payroll information is processed accurately and on time across multiple payrolls, while assisting with HMRC reporting and payroll administration duties.

Key Responsibilities
* Processing and maintaining payroll records
* Accurate input and validation of payroll data
* Supporting the monthly processing of two payrolls covering approximately 700 employees across multiple entities
* Processing new starters and leavers
* Assisting with payroll reconciliations and balancing activities
* Supporting HMRC submissions, RTI reporting and general payroll compliance
* Assisting with statutory payments including SSP and other payroll-related calculations
* Supporting pension administration and submissions
* Working with time and attendance data to ensure payroll accuracy
* Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies
* Responding to payroll-related queries from employees and managers
* Providing general administrative support to the wider payroll function The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a Payroll Assistant, Payroll Administrator, or similar payroll support role, together with a good understanding of payroll processes and administration. You will have excellent attention to detail, strong data entry skills, and be comfortable working with large volumes of information while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.

You should be organised, dependable, and capable of managing priorities within a deadline-driven environment. Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements would be advantageous, as would experience using payroll software such as More Pay or time and attendance systems such as Kronos, although neither is essential.
