A prestigious US law firm is seeking an experienced Billing Manager to lead its London Billing function, with additional responsibility for supporting European and Middle East offices.

This is a senior and highly visible position, combining team leadership, operational billing, stakeholder management and process improvement. Working closely with Partners, Finance leadership and global colleagues, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a best-in-class billing service while driving performance, developing the team and ensuring consistent processes across the firm's international billing platform.

• Team leadership
  - Lead, develop and manage the Billing team, including workload allocation, resource planning, recruitment, training, performance management and ongoing development.
• Billing operations
  - Oversee the accurate and timely processing of billing transactions, ensuring internal and client service levels are consistently achieved.
• Partner relationships
  - Build strong relationships with Partners and senior stakeholders, developing a clear understanding of client billing arrangements and improving invoice efficiency.
• International billing
  - Manage billing requirements across multiple international offices, ensuring a consistent and high-quality service across jurisdictions.
• WIP management
  - Take accountability for WIP performance, working closely with Revenue leadership and Controllers to achieve key financial targets.
• Performance reporting
  - Produce and communicate billing data, WIP information and performance metrics to proactively drive billing performance.
• Complex billing
  - Oversee standard billing, eBilling, multi-payor, composite, international billing and eInvoicing across a globally aligned platform.
• Client billing requirements
  - Ensure billing processes reflect client SLAs, outside counsel guidelines, jurisdictions, tax requirements, charge rates, budgets and agreed billing cycles.
• Process improvement
  - Identify opportunities to improve billing processes, controls and systems, leading agreed changes through to successful implementation.
• Financial controls & compliance
  - Ensure adherence to statutory requirements, including VAT, AML and SRA Accounts Rules, alongside internal financial policies and controls.
• Project delivery
  - Lead and contribute to billing and finance projects, including the testing and implementation of new processes and procedures.

• Extensive legal finance experience, with substantial billing experience gained within a law firm environment.
• Previous experience managing and developing a legal Billing team.
• Strong knowledge of legal billing processes and procedures.
• Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements, including VAT, AML and SRA Accounts Rules.
• Experience managing complex and international billing requirements and processes.
• Experience of Aderant legal finance system is desirable.
• Strong Partner and senior stakeholder management skills.
