A smarter way to build your practice career
Are you a qualified accountant who enjoys using technology to make good work even better?
We're working with a forward-thinking accountancy practice that is actively investing in technology, automation and AI. They're looking for a Senior Accountant who wants more than simply managing a portfolio - someone who is curious, commercially minded and keen to influence how work is delivered.
Based in London, this is an opportunity to join a progressive team where your ideas are encouraged, your judgement is trusted and there is genuine scope to develop your career.
The role
As a Senior Accountant, you'll take ownership of a varied client portfolio while acting as a key point of contact. Alongside delivering high-quality accounts and tax work, you'll have the freedom to question existing processes and identify smarter ways of working.
You'll be responsible for:
- Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as their trusted day-to-day contact
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and tax returns
- Reviewing work completed by junior team members and supporting their development
- Handling technical queries and using professional judgement to reach appropriate solutions
- Working confidently across cloud accounting platforms, data tools and Excel
- Identifying opportunities to automate repetitive processes and improve efficiency
- Exploring and using AI tools responsibly within accounting workflows
- Reviewing both human and technology-generated outputs with appropriate professional scepticism
- Contributing ideas that improve processes, client service and overall efficiency
What we're looking for
You'll need to be ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified with several years' experience in a UK practice environment.
More importantly, you'll be someone who:
- Is comfortable managing a varied portfolio independently
- Has strong statutory accounts and tax experience
- Possesses excellent Excel and data skills
- Has experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero or Quick Books
- Takes an active interest in automation, AI and emerging technology
- Can demonstrate practical use of AI beyond basic research or generic prompts
- Naturally questions inefficient processes and looks for better solutions
- Communicates clearly and confidently with both clients and colleagues
- Enjoys taking ownership and has the confidence to suggest change
What's on offer?
This Senior Accountant role offers £50,000-£60,000, alongside genuine investment in CPD, career development and modern technology.
You'll join an ambitious accountancy practice that embraces change rather than shying away from it, with the opportunity to develop your technical, commercial and technological skill set.
If you're a qualified practice accountant who wants to combine strong technical work with technology, innovation and continuous improvement, this could be an excellent next move.
