Job Description
Payroll Specialist ( 17414 )
Description
UK Payroll Specialist
We support hybrid working, and you’ll spend 60% of your time each month in the office.
This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.
You turn complex payroll detail into accurate, on-time pay — and you know that getting it right matters to every colleague.
You’re organised, calm under pressure and confident working through reconciliations, controls and deadlines. If you enjoy solving problems, building trusted relationships and improving how payroll works, this is an opportunity to make a practical difference across a large European network.
The opportunity
As UK Payroll Specialist, you’ll support accurate and timely payroll delivery, helping ensure each payroll meets UK legislation, tax and social security requirements, company policies and agreed payroll calendars.
Reporting to the UK Payroll Lead, you’ll work across end to end payroll processes with employees, managers, HR, Finance and external payroll providers. The role combines hands on delivery with controls, reconciliation, compliance, stakeholder support and continuous improvement.
"The best payroll people combine technical accuracy with curiosity and care. We’re looking for someone who will spot what doesn’t look right, work confidently with partners and colleagues, and keep improving the service we provide."
Payroll team, easyJet
The team & culture
You’ll join a Payroll team that supports operations across the countries where easy
Jet has a base. The team works closely with colleagues across the business and with third party providers to deliver an accurate, compliant and efficient service.
It’s a collaborative environment where attention to detail, responsive support and shared problem solving all contribute to a better employee experience.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll process and validate payroll inputs, review trial payrolls and resolve discrepancies before final submission. You’ll reconcile variable pay, one off payments and payroll outputs, producing clear gross to net and sign off documentation.
You’ll help keep payroll compliant by supporting statutory reporting, tax submissions, social security payments and regulatory declarations, while staying alert to legislative changes and emerging risks.
You’ll be a key contact for employees, managers, HR and Finance, managing queries within agreed service levels and escalating complex cases or compliance issues at the right time.
You’ll work closely with payroll providers, maintain issue logs, complete system and manual controls, support audits and testing, and identify practical ways to simplify, standardise and improve payroll processes.
Requirements of the Role
What we’re looking for
You’ll bring strong payroll processing experience from a complex, high volume environment, with sound knowledge of payroll legislation, tax and social security requirements.
You’re confident working with outsourced payroll providers and skilled in reconciliation, payroll validation and resolving anomalies. You manage competing deadlines well and maintain accuracy when the pace is high.
You build trust with employees, HR, Finance, managers and vendors, communicating clearly and handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
You’ll be comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with multi country payroll, Workday, Service Cloud or SharePoint, a payroll qualification, or another European language would be useful rather than essential.
What you’ll get
- Competitive base salary + up to 20% bonus
- Private medical insurance
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Annual credit towards an easy
Jet holiday - Excellent staff travel benefits
- Flexible benefits package including share schemes
