Interim Head of Tax and Financial Accounting

Purpose of the Role

Lead the Group’s financial accounting, statutory reporting, tax compliance and financial governance activities across a complex multi-entity structure. Working closely with the CFO and finance leadership team, you'll ensure robust reporting, strong controls and compliance while supporting strategic and transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of Group statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with IFRS, FRS 102 and relevant regulations.
• Oversee group consolidation and financial reporting across multiple entities and joint ventures.
• Manage the external audit process and key stakeholder relationships.
• Support corporation tax compliance and reporting with external advisers.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on new standards and business initiatives.
• Prepare and review JV financial reporting and governance information.
• Drive improvements in financial controls, reporting processes and governance.
• Lead and develop the financial accounting team.
• Partner with senior finance stakeholders to support strategic projects.
• Support finance transformation and systems improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified accountant.
• Strong background in financial reporting, statutory accounting and audit.
• Excellent technical accounting knowledge (IFRS and/or FRS 102).
• Experience in a multi-entity environment.
• Strong understanding of controls, governance and compliance.
• Proven people management experience.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable

• Experience in property, healthcare, hospitality or other multi-site businesses.
• Exposure to joint ventures and complex reporting structures.
• Corporation tax reporting and compliance experience.
• Experience in PE-backed, investor-backed or complex corporate environments.
• Candidates from Big Four or leading advisory firms within Audit, Financial Reporting or Accounting Advisory will also be considered.
