Overview
One Great George Street is a historic Grade II listed conference, event and wedding venue located in central Westminster. It offers 21 function rooms including the Great Hall for up to 400 people and two fully-equipped lecture theatres, with in-house audio-visual support and catering. The role is a front-facing receptionist position within a supportive team, focused on delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Our reception team are the welcoming face of our organisation, ensuring every visitor receives an exceptional experience from arrival to departure, maintaining our reputation as a preferred meetings and events venue.

Key Responsibilities- Provide a courteous and professional welcome to all guests, using names or appropriate titles where appropriate.
- Ensure the Reception area is always staffed, tidy, and presentable.
- Direct guests to the correct function rooms and respond to all enquiries with accuracy and efficiency.
- Recognise and accommodate VIPs and regular visitors.
- Liaise with Security regarding any concerns and maintain vigilance at all times.
- Assist Event Co-ordinators with any signage requests/amendments.
- Answer calls promptly and professionally, taking accurate messages and ensuring timely delivery.
- Maintain and restock office supplies, manage taxi bookings, and support registration desks with emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with the House Operations Manager and wider team to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Excellent communication skills – both spoken and written English.
- Service-driven mindset – always willing to go the extra mile.
- Confident and polite – in person and over the phone.
- Tech-savvy – proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Detail-oriented – with a passion for delivering high standards.
- Calm under pressure – able to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Previous experience in a client-facing or service-oriented role.
- A good standard of education and a professional, personable approach.
