Cancer and Surgery Directorate – Surgery & Therapies
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cancer and Surgery Directorate. Full‑time role to start as soon as possible, offering a great opportunity to enter the NHS and develop transferable skills.
OverviewWe are one of the leading centres in the country for cancer treatment and research. Most of our care takes place in the purpose‑built Cancer Centre at Guy’s. We offer personalised treatment and a range of extra support, information, advice and rehabilitation.

- Capacity to work on own initiative and collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team.
The Administrator will provide high quality administrative support to the department, acting as the first point of contact and ensuring efficient day‑to‑day operations.
Range of Duties that a Band 3 will undertake Main Duties- Provide high quality administrative support, including booking meeting rooms, hospitality, organising audio‑visual equipment, ordering department supplies such as stationery, and ad‑hoc duties.
- Typing and formatting of letters, reports, policies, minutes, presentations, statistics and general correspondence/documents using Microsoft Office and other software.
- Support meetings: prepare and distribute agendas, take, transcribe and distribute minutes/action notes, follow up on action points.
- Assist with projects managed within the service, cross‑covering team members, and deputising for the Team Lead as required.
- Advise and support new or less experienced employees on administrative duties.
- Maintain departmental databases accurately and assist with data collation.
- Deliver excellent customer care to all service users.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties necessary for smooth operation.
- Act as first point of contact for callers, visitors and deliveries.
- Handle enquiries from patients, staff and visitors courteously and efficiently, referring to staff when appropriate.
- Manage diaries and organise meetings and events, ensuring all supporting arrangements are in place.
- Maintain and order stationary supplies, following policies and procedures.
- Sort, distribute and handle incoming mail; ensure timely dispatch of outgoing mail; arrange courier deliveries as required.
- Photocopy, collate and distribute reports, correspondence and handouts.
- Establish and maintain accurate filing systems.
- Ensure the department is maintained and kept tidy at all times.
- Cover front‑desk duties as required.
- Report and monitor maintenance/facilities issues appropriately.
