About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for an Education Administrator – Timetabling and Exchanges. This key role will support the Education Officer – Examinations and Assessment in the delivery of the Department’s taught education programmes.

The Education Administrator will provide administrative support for Departmental activities in relation to timetabling, exchanges in and out of the Department, Continuing Professional Development provision and research opportunities for undergraduate students.

This is a full-time, open-ended post.

What you would be doing
  • Leading and managing timetabling and room allocation across all programmes, ensuring efficient use of teaching space, accurate data management, and alignment with institutional processes
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships and continuously improving timetabling processes, providing clear communication, training, and support to staff and students
  • Coordinating the administration of exchange and Year Abroad programmes, ensuring smooth delivery from application to completion, strong partner engagement, and a high-quality student experience
  • Providing effective administrative support for education-related committees
  • Providing administrative and operational support across the department, including key events, staff support, process improvements, and maintaining clear guidance and procedures
What we are looking for
  • You will be educated to A level standard (or equivalent) plus GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. A relevant administrative or higher education qualification (or equivalent experience) is desirable.
  • You will also have proven experience in a busy, customer‑focused administrative environment, with the ability to manage high volumes of enquiries and strong proficiency across Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience of timetabling, scheduling, or resource planning in an educational or similar setting is essential
  • You will also have a good working knowledge of IT systems and databases, with the ability to learn new systems quickly, and a comprehensive understanding of data accuracy, record keeping, and confidentiality (including GDPR). Understanding of higher education structures and processes is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong organisational ability, high attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced environment are essential
