The Patient Administrator will work as part of an administrative team, supporting multidisciplinary clinical and administrative teams to provide a high quality administration service, a positive patient experience and the highest levels of customer service. The role requires an excellent understanding of the 18-week RTT process and knowledge of the Trust’s Access Policy and National Trust Guidelines. Understanding of the 2WW cancer pathway and processes, where appropriate.
Mainduties of the job
Communicate clearly, effectively and compassionately with the multidisciplinary team, patients and their family, visitors or carers, in line with the Trust’s values.
Responsible for booking patient appointments, diagnostics and inpatient stays throughout their patient pathway.
Management of virtual clinics, where applicable.
Input and access information on Epic as required.
Actively engage in Continuous Professional Development opportunities in line with set objectives.
Carry out general office duties such as photocopying, scanning and filing.
The post holder has a general duty of care for their own health, safety and wellbeing and that of work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital, in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post.
Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesAssisting and supporting (including cross covering) other members of the administrative team across the department or division, including dealing with telephone calls and resolving simple enquiries for patients, their carer’s and visitors plus reception type duties when required.
Carry out designated administrative tasks under direction and with guidance, and following agreed standard operating procedures.
Scheduling of patients and the timely management of the work queues in line with standard operating procedures.
Person specification- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Grade C or above in English and Maths
- Experience of working in an administrative environment
- Ability to deal with sensitive information with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work independently, to manage and prioritise own workload
- Prior experience in healthcare administration, medical office, or scheduling roles
- Understanding of Patient Access Targets
- Proficiency in Epic, Patient tracking lists and Work-queues
