An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for an Education Administrator – Assessment and Pastoral Support. This key role will support the Education Officer – Examinations and Assessment in the delivery of the Department’s taught education programmes.
The Education Administrator will provide administrative support for Departmental activities in relation to the assessment of students including pastoral matters.
This is a full-time, open-ended post.
What you would be doing- Supporting the delivery of assessments across all programmes, including coordinating schedules, managing coursework and examinations, and providing administrative support during key assessment periods
- Ensuring the integrity and smooth running of assessment processes, including data collation, compliance with regulations, secure handling of materials, and supporting reporting and external examiner activity
- Supporting student pastoral and wellbeing processes, including attendance and engagement monitoring, managing absence and mitigating circumstances procedures, ensuring compliance with UKVI and institutional requirements, and coordinating timely interventions
- Providing effective administrative support for education-related committees
- Providing administrative and operational support across the department, including key events, staff support, process improvements, and maintaining clear guidance and procedures
- You will be educated to A level standard (or equivalent) plus GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. A relevant administrative or higher education qualification (or equivalent experience) is desirable.
- You will also have proven experience in a busy, customer-focused administrative environment, with the ability to manage high volumes of enquiries and strong proficiency across Microsoft Office applications
- Experience of supporting assessment processes (coursework, examinations, or data handling) is essential
- You will also have good working knowledge of IT systems and databases, with the ability to learn new systems quickly, and a comprehensive understanding of data accuracy, record keeping, and confidentiality (including GDPR). Understanding of higher education structures and processes is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong organisational ability, high attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment are also essential
